    Hi -

can anyone tell me, in maths:

what exactly is a "NAB"? and whast does it consist of?

when does a student take it? e.g. after each part of a course?

Do you tend to get a lot of homework (in your opinion) if a student?

When do pre-lims usually take place?

    Thanks!

A compulsory test at the end of each unit. Must be passed in order to sit the final exam.
Questions are at grade C level.

Depends on the school. I got homework most nights (admittedly I didnt do any of it), finishing off the work covered in class

Nat 4 won't have an exam so they won't need a prelim.

Nat 4 pupils don't have any exams or prelims but have to pass the three unit assesments over the year. Nat 5 students have exams and prelims (prelims starting around February-March time, depends on the school itself). They also have to pass all three unit assessments in order to sit the exam. 'Nabs' or what they call 'unit assessments' are mini tests to make sure pupils know everything in that certain unit. In each subject, there is roughly 3 units, some have 4. For maths, the school mix up the units so it usually ends up being four. Homework-wise, Nat 5 students are supposed to complete one piece each week and they are fairly easy.
