I'm quite used to PAYG but I decided to get a new phone this summer and wanted a monthly contract below £15.

I've ordered my moto g unlocked.

    What I'm looking for:
    -unlimited internet
    -200mins call minimum
-100 text minimum( but I'll be using whatsapp 90%)

Ive had a look at giffgaff and virgin so far.
I want good 3G coverage and I was looking at giffgaff £12 contract but apparently they're on O2 and O2 is bad :/

I think the main thing I want is fast unlimited Internet.

    Have a look at Orange.

I pay £8 for unlimited texts; 1,000 minutes; and 100MB of data.

Data isn't very important to me, so that doesn't matter. I'm sure they'll have something you like for not much more.

    I've had a look at this: http://www.o2.co.uk/coveragechecker

That's for O2, giffgaff. Is that coverage checker accurate for most places?

I would say so to an extent.........if they have mast in that area then clearly they coverage with a certain distance from those masts. As long as you are in a urban area it shouldn't be an issue

DO you NEED unlimited internet? - Personally I regularly stick under 1GB

If you don't Virgin's sim only deal is

    £10/month

    250 minutes
    Unlimited texts
    1GB data
    3.5G (Will upgrade to 4G)
    1 month rolling contract

I reckon you can probably get that for around £6-7 after three months

    Three:
If you want unlimited data, then for:

    £12.90/month you get

    200 minutes
    5000 texts
    Unlimited data
    4G
    1 month rolling contract

    OR for £15.90 you get

    600 minutes
    5000 texts
    Unlimited data
    4G
    12 months contract

Virgin are BLOODY good for retention deals

My mum had a contract for:

    £12/month

    1200 minutes
    Unlimited texts
    Unlimited calls to VM numbers
    1GB data
    12 months contract

That now costs £8.74/month on a rolling month contract

In November, I'll get a Virgin sim only contract (in my own name, instead of my mums) for the £10/month rolling contract, and then after three months, tell them it costs too much

"Three" do a good deal called "Ultimate Internet SIM 600 12 months"

    Comes with:

    600 minutes
    Unlimited data (including tethering)
    Unlimited texts

for 15.90£ a month (slight over I know)

There 3G coverage is supposed to be joint best with EE and they have 4g now too.

I am with them and am personally very satisfied , especially with their 3G speeds, they have the best 3G speed of any network. (always around 10mbps min).

4G is just unnecessary I reckon, but i've had 35mbps on it with a speed test.

If its for browser speed just download UC browser which uses cloud acceleration.

honestly O2 do suck .-. I have pay&go with them and it is horrible, they have changed my tarrif from unlimited texts and 100mb data to 100 texts and like 30-50mb .-. but i'm going to get a contract with EE soon because in my area they are like the only people with decent coverage

Interestingly, Three is using Virgin Media business's infrastructure to roll out 4G

    http://news.techworld.com/networking...rt-4g-rollout/

So they're relying on Virgin media for it's fibre infrastructure, but VM themselves use EE for mobile, so can't use their own infrastructure for 4G...

I always used to say O2 were VERY good at customer service. I mean afair, they're based in Leeds, and I quite like calling people in Leeds! (Especially as it's only 20 miles away)

Any way, after being bought by Sky, I don't really like touching O2 any more...

Basically, you can probably blame Sky for ruining O2. They seemed decent, until they got bought by Sky..

You can do that with most phones these days....
