Hi, i'll be at Churchill for English.
Don't worry about it. Each college must have a pretty thick skin about pooling.

It sounds bizarre but since October I've been pooled from Emma to Downing to Fitzwilliam to Churchill (the last pooling happening last week). Cambridge hasn't managed to shake me off just yet!

Nice to meet you anyway, though I think there aren't many more Churchillians on TSR.

Plus, had to add that after potentially going to so many colleges you really get to gauge good and bad points of each. Put it this way, after a week of being a Churchill Fresher I've seen more parties and stuff to do there than at all of my other colleges combined.

So its ugly :frown: , we can still shut our eyes and have fun.

Churchill has quite a good reputation for English, despite the college's focus on sciences. (Professor) Mary Jacobus is there, though I'm not sure how much she teaches at the college, and I've come into contact with Dr. Gopal a couple of times and she seems very nice. Dr. Long lectures quite a bit and his lectures are among the best attended, but his style (and content!) divides opinion quite a bit. I'm up at Churchill quite a bit for university radio and to see a friend of mine there, and I've heard Pav brings in people from all the hill colleges. Accommodation is generally nice and the people I've met (most of the CompScis, I must admit) were all very nice.

Thanks for that. Must say, I was slightly put off when I saw the extreme domination of sciences over the college, but then I have also heard the same positive things about its English department. Very excited about going.

Unfortunately though Sooshay, I think were pretty much alone as Churchill Freshers on TSR and people don't seem to be using the JCR forums much this year.

um ok whitey!! just bring up all the sushi stuff and all the maths alphabet stuff...thought i could at last escape from it all...

hahah marx i reckon so too...unless lisam is also a fresher??? yeah, the jcr forum is soo quiet, noticed when i went on to fill that form about the parents.

have only received accommodation things...no reading lists or anything, although just found a letter from churchill in january which said reading lists would be sent out in april/may!!! so phoned up and was told nope they havent been sent out yet..aaghh will have so much work to fit in..between all the partying woo!

Really?
Cool, what course?

natski :p:
you filled out your parents forms?
Reply 17
Yeah, filled in mine. Wonder who we'll get?...

I like the whole tick list idea, although you do end up wondering what sort of person you'd seem like to somebody who would only know you by the catagories that you picked.

Sooshay, does the reading list thing go for every subject? I wonder whether I should just finish the list Fitzwilliam sent me in June. Wonder whether they'll start from the same paper?

Yer i'm gonna do Natsci

Sent off parenting form, can't decide which rooms to go for/options to study in first year, hopefully all will come clear pretty soon

Anyone going to any of those parties (the ones at schools, etc)?

Although not many on here seem to be going to Churchill i've met 2 people just out and about who applied there (one got in, dunno about the other) which was pretty cool

see you at the pav :elefant: (there is probably a much more appropriate smiley however it is dancing and they do fancy dress stuff so bleugh)
