This may sound like the stupidest question ever, but...
I hope to go to Thailand next summer to volunteer at an elephant sanctuary. It requires booking online and a deposit. For fundraising, would I have to first apply and put down the deposit and then start fundraising, or can I just start immediately?
I can imagine starting immediately wouldn't work, I could be raising money for myself and be lying about wanting to volunteer, but then again there would be no visible proof for possible donors that I actually am volunteering.
Sorry again for the more than likely extremely obvious question, but I've never done something like this before and I'm genuinely wondering
Please no hate / mean remarks, I already got enough of that on yahoo answers

When I was fundraising, I started fundraising before I put the deposit down.
As long as there isn't a possibility for you to be rejected (like an application process) then there isn't a problem with it.
One thing I said that seemed to reassure them if they asked questions (which was literally once) though was that if things didn't work out I was donating the money to the orphanage I am currently volunteering in.
Good luck, it's a great opportunity.
