shackleton halls

first of all i was wondering if anyone could put up any pictures of shackleton halls, or write a description or something as i never went to an accommodation viewing day. Secondly, it seems as though quite a few people are going there, so i thought all us shacks crew could say what flat and room we're all in to see who's near who, with what we're studying etc seeing as we'll all be living together soon! So here's me:

My names PJ,
I'm in flat 56 Room 1,
I'm gonna be studying Ancient History.

I haven't got any pics of Shackleton but I spent a lot of time there last year as I had mates that lived there.

In my opinion its the best place to be living as its right in the middle of the Vale and you've got CostCutter, Bar One, Rios and the cafateria all in the same building as your room.

If anyone has got any pics then put them up.

I had an unconditional offer mate, so I got my accomodation sorted early.

You should be getting yours soon if you got your place at uni last week after gaining your A-level grades.

i did the exact same thing last week mate, getting a feel for the area etc.
so many speed cams round there tho!

god knows how i havnt got another ticket!

and cool, most other unis seem to get accomodation sorted straight away. if it wernt for the others on here id be panicing like hell!
The Shackleton room does look nice, well we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm going to head up to Birmingham the next time I have a free day, the only signifigant amount of time I've spent thereh has been in The Bull Ring so I should probably try and get a feel for the rest of the city.
Yea me too, i met someone on my course on the open day, and we've kept in touch - she actually lives in birmingham (solihill?) so im gonna meet up with her and have a look around and that!

theres a guy called dave stone on student room foriums who has pics of shalkleton. it is one of the best halls their. ensuite, right above fusion and rios and cost cutter. all modern rooms. but to be honest once ur there and settled in ul find ur not that fussed about accomadation. u cud live in a dump and still have a wicked time!!
so podder - are u trying to tell us that chamberlain is a dump>?

chambo...a dump....NEVER!! lol well it it is a bit but i like to say it has character!! it isnt up to the same standards as the others but seriuosly you can do anything in chambo. the amount of times weve smashed up the walls and lights by playing corridor cricket. mass parties in the common rooms,. wen i first moved in i was like im guna try transfer asap but after 2 weeks i loved the place!! so did everyone. best social side of all the halls cos theres so many people, 18 to a floor, 17 floors you get to meet so many people! unlike been in a flat of 4.

Yeah, it is really expensive, and I'm not lucky/spoilt enough to have my parents pay for it either.

But the Uni has a policy where you can pay the fee in monthly installments, with the first payment being in early November. I've got about £1,000 already saved, hopefully I'll get a decent student loan and then I'm gonna have a part-time job to pay the rest.

Spreading the payment over the whole year should help me.
i'm amazed that shack isn't full - i really wanted to get it but it was really popular last year and so i ended up with TC...which wasn't all bad i guess

hope i get shack, dnt like the look of TC, 2 out of the way for me, wanna be where the action is!
Tennis courts... too out of the way? It is at the other side of the road to shackleton

Well, the other side of the mason demolition site anyway...
