I got a place to do work experience for 2 weeks this summer with M and C Saatchi. Anyone got any experience with them before?

I've applied for work experience for this coming summer. How was it when you had yours?

I thought it was amazing, its really independent and everyday you do something quite unexpected. The company is cool and casual but everyone there works really hard. You basically get a computer with a log in and you're called a 'workie'. Then people from all over the office both in your building and in M and C mobile etc around will send group emails to all the workies and the first person to answer gets the job. (Unless its a group job).

They can be really small jobs like helping to set up a meeting room, helping someone to move offices but it can be really interesting stuff, like competitor research and creating presentations. When I was there I spent 2 whole days doing research and compiling screen shots, sales figures, pictures, target audiences, promotions for different companies. I was also asked to hand deliver some stuff quite often, i.e I got to go to the tfl headquarters to drop of some prints. They sometimes have events where people come in to do talks, so I got to hear from a mathematician who wrote this book and he explained how maths could be applied to advertising.

You need to be able to use your initiative quite a lot and manage your time. So if there is a time when there are no jobs (which can happen), perhaps learn more about the company or familiarise yourself with their advertising database online searcher (forgot what they call it). And if you have too much to do you need to not accept any more jobs. Most useful tip I can probably give you would be to ask 'and what sort of time do you want it back by?' as this will make sure that no.1 you don't send it to them late and no.2 if they say in an hr you know they expect a smaller amount of work than if they said in 3 days time.

Wow, that was a lot of writing. I assume that you haven't actually had an interview yet but if you need any more tips just ask.
