    Hi all,

I'm new to TSR and could really do with some advice. I have just finished my A/S levels doing Physics, Computing, Maths and Chemistry and I'm interested in doing a Chemistry degree (F100) after my A2's.

However, I am unsure whether uni is the right option for me and know that apprenticeships is a great alternative. I would just like some general information about apprenticeships and why they might suit me better than uni?

I was also wondering whether football clubs ever doing apprenticeships and if this would be a realistic option.

    Thanks

    Hey there LTID,

Whilst not doing an apprenticeship myself (I'm at uni), my brother is just coming to the end of first year in his apprenticeship. It does seem like a great alternative to university, getting hands on experience of the tasks at hand, rather than purely learning the theoretical side of things. Not only that, but you can pick up professional qualifications along the way whilst earning money as well.

It's a bit of a balancing scale, I have found. Some jobs will require you to have a degree and therefore go to university. Some jobs, however, will prefer you to have ample experience, so an apprenticeship could be deemed to be better. You've got to get the balance correct.

What sort of thing do you mean by "football club apprenticeships"?

    hi,

I seem to remember seeing some football clubs offering sport sciences or finance (accounting) apprenticeships (or maybe internship), but when researching this option I have not had any joy. I understand that for sports science most places want Biology or PE which I haven't done, so that is probably a long shot. I was just wondering if anyone had done one, or knew where to look if there were any out there.

thanks for your help and info about the other questions I asked! :-)
