Why do women have a sense of entitlement?

Original post by samsun53
I notice it is usually women who have a sense of entitlement.

Even today, I see so many women who expect a man to pay for the drinks and they are not even grateful, they just expect it!

Women go to university, and usually do all the soft, easy humanities subjects then demand a top graduate jobs and if they don't get it start using the sexism card.

Women seem to think they are entitlement to mens money and they have no shame in admitting it they after a rich man.
They feel its ok for them to have a good job, earn good money and yet expect men to pay for everything.

You're stereotyping women a little too much. People in general are just ungrateful now despite their sex. Men can sponge off a woman's success just as much as a woman can. It's a certain type of person that believe they are entitled to things, usually people that haven't had to work for anything and have everything they dream of handed to them that believe they are entitled to things.

For example, I was watching this benefits program on tv last week where a woman believed she was entitled to her benefits and didn't believe she had to bother looking for a job because she had everything she ever wanted handed to her via the benefits system without lifting a finger other than to sign on. Sex doesn't play a part, laziness and a persons demanding personality are the problem.

What relevance do you think that has? You are virgin-shaming. I know it may seem strange but some men actually have a thinking brain with which they criticise things in the world around them rather than moulding all their opinions around what gets them laid.

How is your comment different from the stuff feminists complain about from men?

Virgin shaming is different, entirely, from making a throwaway comment about the OP potentially lacking success with women, if he goes around slandering them as he has in his post... which is a reasonable assumption, since vitriol isn't that sexy.

Also, since I don't identify as a feminist, I can't really answer that for you.

She adds only minority of women do this in girls school.
Who is she kidding? What women say and what women do are different things,

Most of the posh girls in my university went to private or single sex schools and they all want a man richer than them!

These women feel they better than others, women tend to be more social snobs than men.

Women judge others on class and background more than men.

Yes, these are patterns, and it occurs more among the female sex than male most often.

Jesus how far are you from reality? My school is in Sunderland, not exactly the home of social snobs (nor is most of the country) and is definitely not a private school. All that you have stated above is again found only in the minority. Do you actually leave your computer to venture into the real world? And socialise with women? Or are all of your opinions based on how some women can occasionally portrayed in some media? Because if the former was the case I doubt we'd be having this conversation.

Are you seriously suggesting that because this OP mentioned a valid debate point that some women are over-entitled that he is similar to a murderer?

I suppose the old Argumentum ad Hitlerum fallacy is now joined by the new Argumentum ad Rodgerum, typically as a rejoinder whenever something rational is said which offends the delicate sensibilities of today's feminists.

BTW, some women are not merely "over-entitled", they are outright abusive - emotionally, mentally and even physically.

The narcissistic ones usually see nothing wrong with playing head games for fun and a feeling of power, and always blame the victim whenever someone else goes away hurt - it's never their own fault, in their eyes. They are never to blame and have no sense of accountability, so they scapegoat and blame-shift.

Simple solution for a man when encountering any of the above from a female: Do not stand for it. Walk away and refuse to talk when they are in a sulky mood, they are trying to manipulate you - listen only when they agree to be respectful and reasonable. Do not tolerate disrespectful treatment and set firm boundaries against it.

Explain that if she wants equal rights (=entitlements) with a man, then she should have equal responsibility and accountability.

P.S. This video by Karen Straughan (her most popular one) is interesting on female entitlement, discussing (among other issues) how many women feel entitled to first seats on lifeboats while men get to die:

Agreed, despite being a minority of women its purely ignorant to suggest that there is still not a size-able noticeable about still around.

I like your post, very good.
I think this is a complete generalisation of half of the human race! Some women misunderstand the oppression of sexism and therefore try and use it to advance in life but this is by no means "most".
My counter would also be that some men seem to have a sense of entitlement towards women. Their need for women to be stereotypically slim and "beautiful" (whatever that means) Is quite sickening. I think it is unfair to judge either gender as a whole on a few of our own isolated experiences!
Well I'm glad we've moved away from the generalisations of the original post, which in it's wording suggesting it is most women they were talking about, to acknowledging in reality it is only a minority, this is fair to argue. The OP is the problem.

Watch the video above, women were never oppressed!
Men are the ones oppressed and sent to die and placed in the bottom by society.

You're honestly going to argue women weren't oppressed?

If you're talking about conscription in war you can hardly blame women for that as it was men who made those decisions. Not women.

Womens lives were always put before men and boys.

millions of boys were sent to died for the sake of protecting the women and children of a tribe or nation.

Women put pressure in Society, if a man did not want to fight, women in society would brand him a coward, they put a white feather on a 14 year boy.

I can't believe you people are soo uneducated and see things on the surface.

You're being very ignorant, being treated as delicate and fragile is the reason women were saved - because society viewed them as weak. Not treating us as equals

As if you would be happy to be treated equally and sent to war to die!
as if you be happy to be equal to die in the work place in equal numbers or be homeless.

I am done with you.

There are plenty of women who want to fight on the front line and should be allowed to. I personally don't appreciate being patronised on my gender.

So that makes it not discriminatory and sexist?

In traditional Indian households its often the mother who opposes the strict traditions on their daughters, i suppose that's not sexist then? Or 'Slut Shaming' etc. which most feminists like to bang on about, despite most of the people making these judgements are other women.

Argumentum ad Rodgerum is the tactic used by the powerful down the ages: push the people you're oppressing till one of them lashes out, then use that to show the target group's moral degeneracy and thus justify further persecution. Into the bargain you often get to make the stuff they talked about taboo, so suddenly you are not allowed to say a word against, say, American foreign policy in the wake of 9/11, or say maybe the government should have listened to the miners' concerns in the wake of Orgreave, or say maybe Marilyn Manson is actually OK in the wake of Columbine, without being labelled a terrorist or a communist or a Satanist. And so now men are not allowed to raise concerns about female entitlement in the sexual marketplace without being taken to be a serial killer in the making.

To me it highlights how the feminist viewpoint has come to dominate public debate and stifle dissenting viewpoints - which is of course not necessarily the same thing as actual women actually having power.

Feminists might also be reminded of Valerie Solanas, occurring at a time when you can certainly say the feminist viewpoint did not dominate public debate. It's the sort of thing that happens when you don't let people have a voice and they convince themselves there is an active conspiracy against them (as an armchair psychologist I would say they do this because if there is an active conspiracy at least there is hope of identifying it and bringing it under control unlike if it was simply an emergent social norm)
