Is 24 years too old for University?

I hope not, as I'm turning 24 next week and going to university in September, to study International Relations. I am aware some doors might be closed when I graduate, but to be honest that just makes me want to study, work hard and prove what I'm capable of (both to me and to others). Of course I regret not knowing what I really wanted at 18 and feel like this last 6 years have just been wasted and have similar worries as you do, but I think the most important is that we set our goals, so now we have to work hard to get where we want and seize the moment. I hope you do well in something you enjoy!


Nope :smile: there was a woman aged 52 on my course and she won't be graduating until she's 55! You can go to university pretty much any age :smile: the world is your oyster.

For example, I will be 27 years old when my degree is finished and would media outlets still take me on and give me a job. Im starting sept and will have just turned 27. I know alot of people from my class in college are starting uni in their 30's and some 40's. Never too late. My mother in law didnt go until her 40's and shes got a great job teaching and shes in her 50's now. Good luck with Uni :smile:

I don't know what you're all worrying about. I am 50, and starting my degree in Sept. Both my children will be at Uni at the same time as me! I have just completed an access course at the Uni, our group ranged from 21 up to 50 and we all got along fabulously. It has made me feel years younger and been one of the best things I have ever done. I can't wait for September. From what I have seen so far there are plenty of more mature students.

I'm going to be starting when I'm 31 and I'm well excited! I don't even feel my age now and I'm 29 (Nearly)!
People change careers all the time these days and with more life experience for something like journalism that can't be a bad thing.

I felt too old to get involved with all this yolo crap when I went to uni at 18 but with more free time on your hands you can embrace socialising with other non uni community groups (I used to go dancing and moshing a lot...good times!)
