    Hiiiiii
ill try and cut this short.

I'm starting a hnd in September. I am married and my husbands income was 17800 last year. Mine was 8570 and most of that was smp. My income for this year is nothing and my husbands is the same. I have a 7 month old daughter and we claim housing benefit of £20 a week. And £35 a week child tax credits.

I've applied for the special support grant and parents learning allowance. As well as the maintenance loan and childcare grant.

I'm wondering if anyone knows, based on my details if/what I can get and how much?

My daughters nursery will be £72 a week. Is this all covered?

I'm a bit confused and the lady on the phone wasn't very clear. Thank you.

You'll get a loan of £5555, and SSG of £3287? (something like that, not sure of the exact figure.) I'm not sure how much the Parents learning allowance or CCG will be.

Your housing benefit will likely go up by a tiny bit as your income will be a little lower; SSG is not counted in benefits calculations. Again, I'm not sure whether Parents learning allowance for CCG will be exempt from the HB calculation or included, and this could have an impact.

CCG could be up to 85% of the £72 a week, but I'm not sure how your partners income will affect this.

This is because your income will be below £25,000.

    Doesn't account for SSG.

Assuming you are outside London I got

    You could get per year:

    £9,000 Tuition Fee Loan
£4,027 Maintenance Loan (for living costs)
£3,056 Maintenance Grant (for living costs)
    Extra student funding

You could get extra grants and allowances:

up to £150.23 a week (1 child) or up to £257.55 a week (2 or more children) Childcare Grant
up to £1,523 per year Parents’ Learning Allowance
    Child Tax Credit

This is because funding is not based on your current income but on income from a previous tax year -in fact it may be from the year before when you were probably working as you got smplast year.. It will be less if you have any savings and if you do please make sure they are in ISAs as the income from ISAs can be excluded, student finance is based on taxable income. In subseuent years you will do slightly better as your smp will not be in the calculation.

Best to get advice from the place you will be studying as they will be much better informed.
