Enrollement for A2 Watch

    • Thread Starter

Guys, I'm considering enrolling into a different college for my A2 year, please could you help me out and tell me what things I would need to think over before coming to a concrete decision?

What benefits do you expect from the move? Are the benefits really worth the disruption- why can't you fix what is wrong where you are now?
Do they use the same examiner for your subjects - not absolutely essential for most subjects but makes things easier if they do. If they are different you'll need to check through the new exams officer if you can transfer your AS result and complete the A level. Resits will be easier if required and you will be used to the examiners style.
Have they already gone back and started Y13 study and been set work for the summer that you will be behind on.
Staff will not know you, how you work, how to help you, how will they predict your grades and write a detailed ucas reference for you if they have only just met you?
It might be tough, though not impossible, to integrate with new classmates.

    I'm doing the same!!!!

Consider teaching, is it of a better quality than your current college/sixth form?
Do you know anybody there? Otherwise it's making friends all over again.
Distance. One of the reasons I'm moving is because my current college is so far away, it takes me an hour to get there, whereas the one I'm moving to is just eight minutes on a train.
Links with unis? My current college has links with Royal Holloway and Surrey, the one I'm moving to has links with Sussex, which is my first choice
Exam boards and courses. Are all subjects the same exam board? And if so, are they still the same course? I'm currently on Edexcel AS History, I'm moving to Edexcel A2 History, but the courses and units are different, I could only move if their A2 doesn't link to their AS, because obviously I haven't done it.
I know people where I'm moving, they have their UCAS week now, they've already nominated Head Boy, Head Girl and prefects, there are things like that too.

There's so much to consider, but I wish you the best of luck!!
