Ah good, another "Let's whitewash every induvidual case and decide if they are all good or bad" thread...

As I said in the other thread, the whole point of pranks seems to be to embarrass and/or scare, and/or worry people, which seems a little mean, somehow. However, I have no problem with minor pranks; it's just that so many seem to go too far. Things such as moving all of a person's belongings down four flights of stairs, seems like being an annoying tw*t, more than anything; would take them ages to move them back up again.

And then we have the examples of stripping people naked, and forcing them out of their houses, and duct-taping people to pillars; sounds humilating and malicious, to me. And saying "it was only a joke" wouldn't change that.

I wouldn't say I had a problem with pranks per se; just with ones that cause the victim considerable embarrassment and/or considerable inconvenience. If you wouldn't want it done to you, don't do it to someone else.

Do any of you pro-pranksters draw a line, anywhere?

Pranks can be hilarious, if they're done to the right people and not taken too far. Obviously, if you do it to someone you don't really know, or keep pranking one guy over and over, or do somthing irreversible then you're taking it too far. As long as you don't cross that line, it's all good.

Pranks are great. Most people with a heart only do it for revenge anyway. For example there was some teachers me and some mates really hated, it was a mutual feeling aswell. So we decided to get back at all their BS by stink bombing their offices, on the last day of college; each one about 5 times.

The best part is they til this day have no idea

Well i'm pretty sure they're not still dwelling on the fact that some tard rather maturely stinkbombed their office. They've moved on, and so should you.

I'll repeat what I said about the drunken LSE students who went and trashed King's College English department: a bunch of total idiots and proof positive that getting grade A at A-level and entrance to a top university is no proof of intelligence. It is also stunning that it was members of the Athletic Union who caused all the damage and not the chess club.

Reply 9

It depends on the prank, surely?

Reply 10

This is so subjective to who you are playing the prank on!

I chose Hilarious cos i would only do it with people who i know would have the same attitude on pranks as me! I would never prank someone i knew would feel bullied/picked on/hurt etc...

Umm... Thanks not pranking - thats pure vandalism! You cant compare the two. Pranks are ussually carried out with people you know very well.

It depends on the prank...and the dynamic between the prankster and the prankee

There's obviously a grey area between maintaining a sense of humour and bullying.

Where to draw the line depends entirely on the individual circumstances.

It is good to have a laugh sometimes though folks...

Releasing a greased pig into another hall / college / faculty (so long as it isn't teh chemistry department!)

Fun!

Reply 14

Have you ever tried greasing a pig? They don't stay still for long, you know!

Anyway. I am all for a prank, providing it's worth it. Putting pepper in someone's food / on someone's head? That's just immature. Disassembling a car and then reassembling it inside someone's room, where it doesn't fit through the door? That's quality. Taking someone's chair away before they sit down? Pfft. Releasing a pig onto campus? That is waxing lyrical (sorry)

Also there's the getting-hurt thing. A car in the room never hurt anyone.

These guys seem to be rather good at pranks, or hacks, even.

as long as the effects are reversible, it's fine. no damage to property, etc.

Reply 16

Quite hilarious that this is an anti-prank thread and the pranksters are still winning the poll.

End of the day you have to remember that you have to draw a line somewhere and if you know when to draw that line you shall be fine, if not then you could find yourself in serious trouble.

Fleece pretty much summed this thread up with her first post. Pranks are great. Senseless vandalism and bullying isn't though. Don't confuse them as being the same thing.

Reply 18

I'd just like to point out to whoever neg-repped me for this thread that "rofl" doesn't tell me why you neg repped me, as a result I am very unlikely to stop doing whatever I am supposed to have done you weirdo. Anyways I'm flattered that you went to all that trouble so thankyou. :p:
