For dating, dating websites? Dating websites can also be useful for finding friends. I personally made a huge amount of my friends through online gaming though so /shrug

Cool, which games??

I don't think it's too young. Plenty of people on dating websites from 18-24. Though I suppose they're more use in cities. Your assumption that CoD is a good game to have any positive social interaction does suggest gaming is clearly not going to be your place. I never saw it as a waste because it was a way to meet people and maintain friendships with a lot of interesting people.
fair enough open to try dating websites but il wait till il graduate and move to a city

no like I dont mean to insult yeh or sound like a dick:P

its just..id rather learn guitar or join a sports club where Im actually gonna meet people in real life rather than play games and chat to people il never meet

the point about COD was a joke but grand...

then again im on tsr a lot p

so youre more a fan of online friends then and use tinder/dating websites for the real thing
Can't you take up a hobby and like others have mentioned social groups. Maybe you could go to the gym, swimming, dance lessons, tennis, anything.

Nope. I eventually met most of my gaming friends irl and then they became my rl friends. To me online is a means to an end. It is an easier way to filter people that you actually have the potential be friends with/in a relationship with. It allows you to find people who want what you want, and being on the same page as other people is always a good start. You do whatever makes you feel comfortable. I've been climbing for several years, I'm a part time instructor at a stable and have a lot of friends from riding and competitions, so I have no problem meeting people irl first either; it's just another way to go about it.

I used to live in Brooklyn, so actually most of my gaming friends were American, though when I came back to England there were plenty of English gamers too. In England it's pretty easy to get to most of the big cities so. I'm also bi, so I don't really have a problem meeting anyone aha. Not to mention for most MMOs the male:female ratio is about 1:1 or 2:1 at most. I do general mountain climbing (like hiking I suppose) as well as bouldering and other forms of actual rock climbing. Climbing is a great way to meet people because a lot of it requires a partner.

ah so youd consider a mate someone who may also be far away too

I guess having the odd day out is good...handy to have a few mates spotted all over the country good point!

MMOS? haha explain to the non gaming kid what that is p

nice one! oh really but how would yeh get someone to do it with:?

seems interesting alright..be well up for stuff like that!

Humans are humans, mate.

The reason people say clubs/groups is because you see them regularly. You have the same interest, and you can to some degree gauge their character. It's just like in school, if you're in the same classes, it makes sense to make friends.

This applies...well everywhere. it's not solely down to culture.

And it's your attitudes holding you back. Who says girls don't do sport? Maybe not football, but then you have to step outside of your comfort zone.

I have no attitude problem. I never said clubs are a bad idea, I said they dont exist for people after uni.
I disagree with you on the culture thing. Most sports are segregated.

Tell us what your location is and what interests you have and we will recommend a club or something for you to join.

No, these groups are not designed for meeting girls, they're designed for socialising opportunities with other people with the same interests. That may or may not mean girls. But if it doesn't, so what? At least if you make some male friends you will then have someone else to socialise with.

For example I frequently go to the pub with the guys from my sports club. In the pub are lots of girls, if I was single I would find it quite easy to find a date.

I'm sure there must be some pub guides to London you can look up. I don't live in London, I can't remember the names of the pubs I have visited there specifically.

North London but I already have friends in London and London is full of young people.
outside of London lets say Leeds.
Ok great tell me about these magical places where I can socialise and make friends overnight.

So the conclusion of this thread is Sports Club are a great way to meet girls, great we are getting somewhere rather than the old ideas of just turn up at a pub or imaginary friends of imaginary friends.

Obviously. As an adult not all your friends are going to be people you see every day or live right around the corner from. Having friends in different cities is great. Never have to pay for a hotel again.
MMOs are basically online multiplayer games. So games with thousands of people all on the same server, you can talk, play and otherwise interact with them.
Most climbing centres will have certain nights a week where people who don't have anyone to climb with (or sometimes couples will come too) come along. So you meet new people and each week can climb with someone different or find someone you like climbing with regularly. It's a great trust building exercise and you feel an odd sense of pride and accomplishment when the other person manages to get to the top as well.

I didnt know there was such a thing as climbing centres:P!

must be a big city thing ah well...when I move then..

oh id love to do it just no chance where I live..in college im about a hour from a reasonable city..but its a bit far and expensive to do that especially with no car..

hey! not obviously some people arent so smarts:P may start the gaming the odd time after all:smile:
I'm only seventeen but I can only assume it's the same. You go out, you meet people - You click with a girl and you take things from there. Obviously I'm simplifying it a lot but that is generally how you find and make new relationships.

Ok, so volleyball, book clubs, any clubs don't exist? and sports clubs don't have to be football or cricket. even the smaller sports are good to meet people.

Why are you getting advice but continually turning it down from many people? Do you want to get a gf, or scared of looking a "knob"?

Give me an example of volleyball or bookclub I can join tomorrow.

Im not turning down advice. I have never joined a sports club so I wouldnt know where to look.
er.. check your local sports centre? the local paper? online listings?
My middle aged co-workers have more of a love life than I do.
I don't know how to meet people either. My friends spend all their time watching shows and staying in their house. I'm fed up of arranging for us to meet when they can't be bothered.
So I feel like I'm starting from scratch trying to meet new people.

It's a similar feeling to when you graduate uni. Same issue here!

well for example im slight so team sports tend not to suit me..I mean maybe hockey or something other than that..there really arent any... id be willing to try cricket too!

water sports and rock climbing are decent for people post school however theyre not available in areas like myself too easily
id have to organise it myself..which Id need a fair amount of friends to do anyways p

tinder and dating sites dont really suit either
book clubs is all oldies lets be honest.

I think during the summer volunteering is decent..just generally being friendly to neighbours is worth a try..there arent any team sports that suit me in my local area for my age group unfortunately...I go out often enough and have days out but yeh dont meet people there

any advice then:? aint so easy..
You've been given enough advice..... what more do you want?

And I stand by my point of attitude....
