I'm doing work experience in the Institute of Psychiatry, attached to KCL. I'm based with a research team, who work in an office environment, and they all dress pretty casually - jeans, t-shirts etc.

I've been going for a week now and have been dressing smart-casual, normally in smart-ish trousers. Was considering wearing a black skater skirt with white t-shirt and smart jacket tomorrow, but would this be too formal? I'd be more comfortable dressing slightly too formal than too casual, so am thinking of going for it anyway.

    Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions?

How on earth did you swing research experience despite not even being an undergraduate?

On a more relevant note, that sounds perfectly fine.

Just directly emailed a professor. Think he was impressed with my boldness, gave me a placement straight away!

    Thanks, skirt it is!
