    Hey guys
So I have to choose my subjects for IB, and I know I want to do something with the humanities or english once i'm in uni. Unfortunately, I didn't take history for my IGCSE's and I need to know whether I can still take it in IB at HL. I've always loved history but I dropped it when I came to Year 10 because I found Geography easier.
So right now here are my choices-
    HL: Langlit, Economics/History, Theatre Arts
    SL: Maths, Biology, French

I would also like to know whether ab initio subjects are good to take if you want to get into a good university in England? I really don't like French, and I would like to study Mandarin. Thanks!

Hello! I think whether you'll be allowed to take History HL (or any other subject HL for the matter) depends on your school so go check with your IB coordinator.

For me, I stopped taking History after secondary two (since 14 years old) but I still was allowed to take History HL as there were no "pre-requisites". So I think it shouldn't be a problem for you as well(: Go ask!

Regarding ab initios, I'm pretty sure there isn't a "preferred" language (especially at SL) so long as you do well at them; but you can always double check with a UK local/uni who knows more. My advice would be to go with what you're interested in!

    All the best!
