Basically, my uni is useless in helping law students plan their future. I really don't know what's going on. I've just passed 2nd year and have a weeks work experience planned but what do I do next? I'd like to be a solicitor so is that LPC then training contract? When do I apply for contracts? Help please!

I'd have thought this would have been something you'd have researched before deciding to spend three years of your time and £27,000 on a law degree.

You need to do the LPC first, which is one year full-time. After that you need to get a training contract, which is two years full time; you need to have passed the PSC, and this is usually done during the training contract. I'm not sure about applications though, sorry.

Lol don't worry this was me in second year!

You should start applying for training contracts now, most firms recruit 2 years in advance, which is why most people do their LPC straight after their law degree. You can do the LPC part time for two years or full time for one year. If you get signed up to TargetJobs.co.uk they will give you a list of application dates and deadlines. All the best with your work experience

Some TC's include it, otherwise, yes, it's self-funded. This is usually why people look to secure a TC before the LPC.
