    Hey,

I'm trying to figure out how much money I have to spend on certain things including accommodation. How much does everything together (books, weekly shop etc etc) cost on average at warwick, i.e. what would be a reasonable budget to have for a first year??

    Thanks

It depends on what you prioritise when it comes to living. People may spend more on accommodation and less on food, or vice versa. How I would do it is get your Student Finance done so you know how much you're going to have, then work out accommodation accordingly factoring in £30 a week for food (and any extra for alcohol/drinks if you're a big spender on that), maybe £20 a week for everything else (though people get by on less). That's how much I've survived on for the past 3 years!

As for one offs, you will need text books, gym membership (?), sports membership (?), society federation membership (?) and a bus pass in second year. Can't think of much else!

Accommodation: depends on the block, check the website.
Books: vary wildly from course to course. For me, last year: zero, but I was on a maths degree. Obviously, if you're doing some kind of literature-based degree, this is going to rise.
Food: £20/week is perfectly doable. Probably budget £30 to just be safe.
Other stuff: Warwick Sport and SocsFed membership (£14 socsfed, warwick sport depends on what you want) if you plan on joining societies (you should!), plus whatever the society/club memberships are (varies by society/club). Going out/alcohol/whatever else then just becomes "whatever's left of the money you've got".
