Hi, I'm applying to John Moores through clearing, as I have just finished a year of uni which wasn't for me. It was an English based course. I've always loved English and wanted to be an English secondary school teacher. I still want to do English, but I'm worried I'm going to struggle again, and I can't waste another year. I've been looking at studying Early Childhood Studies, but I'm worried about career prospects. I know to work in a primary school with this degree I'll have to gain QTS, but Student Finance only fund you for 4 years and I've already wasted a year, so I won't get funding for a PGCE. I can't go through teach first as they don't do it for ECS, but they do for English. Does anybody have any advice? Hoping to speak to anyone who's studied/studying either English or Early Childhood Studies, or someone who's completed an ECS degree and can tell me more about career prospects, as uni websites always make career prospects seem a lot better than they might actually be. Thanks in advance!
