Thinking about going to Queen's in Belfast but recently I've seen a lot about racism in Belfast. I've lived in England for a while and never had any real issues, and some of the things I've read have really surprised me. It seems so blatant.

I like the course and the Uni but I'm pretty worried about this.

It's not that bad - I live there. The main thing is idiot catholics and protestants hating each other.
It's no different to England that I'm aware of - though I'm not a minority group so I'm obviously not going to experience this first hand.

    This bugs me.
I'm from England and I have lived in Belfast for a year.
Ive not experienced any problems, seen any racism etc. I was out with a group of people last night that consisted of Irish English Romanian Lithuanian and French.
Very good night and not one instance of racism.
Yes there are problems with religion here but the 12th has been and gone rather peacefully.
So as long as you dont make a conscious effort to get involved in racist activity then you should be fine

That's a bit of an unfair generalization. Barely any of the Catholics and Protestants hate each other anymore.

As long as you stay away from certain, scummy areas you'll be fine. The vast majority of those in Belfast are tolerant and great folks.
