What ways are there to cope with depression?
My personal issues centre around having felt fundementally alone all my life (nothing extreme like having 0 friends or no one to chat to) and thus talking to people would distract me from this; the fundemental issue would always remain, so it's a matter of 'forgetting' that tr problem exists... What other things can I do apart from talking to people? I could just accept that I am and always be fundementally alone but isn't that kind of defeatist?

Hi. Sorry you seem to be having a bad time
I'm not sure I fully understand your feeling of being alone forever, but as for things that might help, do what you want to do. There's no point doing something you don't want to do because you'll probably feel worse so at least if you're doing something you like, then you shouldn't hopefully feel worse. When I say do things you like, I know you can lose interest in things so I don't mean big things but if, for example, you like using the Internet, then why not do that?
And distraction is a good thing - it's sort of the same idea as doing what you like because it takes your mind off things. Friends are good for that but there are other things. Films, music and books?
I'm aware these all seem temporary though so speaking more generally, counselling/anti-depressants can be useful in the treatment of depression.
Hope you feel better soon

I'm sorry I know exactly how you feel because with my depression I feel like that is also one of the biggest problems I face feeling so alone. I also find talking to people helps and as much as it can be difficult at first just trying to be out of the house and doing as much as possible and meeting as many people as possible with friends also really helps me.
