I'm looking for help to work out percentage yield of aspirin from an experiment I did. It's been a while so I've forgotten how to do it.
I used 2g of salicylic acid, and obtained 1.2g of aspirin.

Can somebody explain the steps to work out the percentage yield please?

You firstly need to work out the maximum yield you could have possibly obtained by using the reaction equation (in the case of Aspirin synthesis, the ratios are neatly 1:1 so the maximum number of moles of Aspirin will be equal to the number of moles of Salicylic acid). You then work out your actual yield as a percentage of the maximum yield.
