alcohol and and antibiotics

im on antibiotics for the last 8 days...im finishing tomoro...will i be able to drink alchol(not a lot) that night? thanks :smile:

personally i would wait 24 hours, but if you want to drink, just don't drink too much.

I did that once after coming off a course of amoxicillin, and got completely wasted on 2 pints :redface:

98% of the time, the doc say dont drink on anti-biotics as the alcohol prevents the anti-biotics from working.. the other 2% (ish) is due to a reaction the alcohol has with the chems...

Yes, if you're on penicillin or similar, alcohol will make it much less effective. Probably best to play safe. Everyone will understand if you say "I can't drink, I'm on antibiotics."
