    Hello,

    I was just wandering if there is any difference between supersecondary structure and motifs. As well, is a protein domain an independently folded region of a protein that has a particular function associated with it - that may or may not contain one or multiple motifs.

    Also,

    In regards to protein folding, would a likely sequence be:
    1) The formation of secondary elements.
    2) The formation of supersecondary structure (motifs)
    3) The formation of domains.
    4) The formation of partial tertiary structure.
    5) Small conformational adjustments to form native structure.

    What level are you studying at? If you are working at A level standard you only really need to know the four stages of protein structure and their general characteristics. Domains and motifs are really just descriptive terms; it is more important to know how the protein structure is formed (e.g. underlying molecular bonds).

    I did protein folding a while back. As far as I remember, the supersecondary structure, and the structural-motif level are same.
    And you're right about the definition of a domain as well.
    The sequence looks fine to me.
