    *read here first please*

I've made my firm choice and have met and exceeded the UCAS points required but I was also required to resit a GCSE and since the results day isn't till the 20th will I still not find out if I have being accepted until then? If so and I haven't passed and the university doesn't want me will I not be able to apply through clearing till the 20th or will I find out on the 14th like everyone else?

    Thanks.

Im pretty sure that you will have to wait till GCSE results day to find out your grade and then inform the university of it. UCAS don't receive GCSE results to pass onto universities so you will have to do that when you have your result. If your offer is dependent on your GCSE grade then I highly doubt you will have your place confirmed on A Level results day as the university will not know your GCSE result.

Ahh okay, thank you. That's a little **** seeing as I'm 99% sure I haven't got the grade needed

Im not really sure how clearing works but if you have to wait until GCSE results day to find out and then your put into clearing, wouldn't the majority of the spaces already be filled?

That's what I was thinking which is why I asked the question. If I do have to wait until the 20th most of the places have been filled I won't be happy. Passing this GCSE has nothing to do with the course I want to do anyway so I personally don't see why it's needed, if it was English I could understand but it's not.

I'm afraid you will have to wait until GCSE results day and also you will have to send the university the result yourself, because GCSE results aren't sent automatically. It's unfortunate but true. If you had failed to reach the A level grades for your firm offer, you would be in clearing and you could start negotiating for another course, perhaps with universities who will not want the GCSE as a part of the offer, but as it is, you are stuck, I'm afraid.
