Recently, I seem to have had a problem with my Toshiba M780-10H laptop's charger port. My laptop will detect that the charger is plugged in sometimes, or not, depending on the rotation/position of the charger. Sometimes I have to pull the cable slightly from either side of the laptop (the charger plugs into the back) in order to get it to charge properly. I have two official chargers for it and they both have this problem, unless I put the computer on a dock first - then it charges just fine.

Something I've also noticed is that sometimes when the laptop is charging, there seems to be a very slight buzzing/whining noise coming from the charger port...

As far as I know, there's no incident as such that caused this fault, but it's starting to affect the usability of the laptop a considerable amount. If I wanted to get a replacement power socket for my computer, would it be very expensive to repair?

It seems like the port, you tried it on another laptop?
I would assume it to be costly to be honest, unless you know your way around the inner parts and if its simply a soldering job.

Have you tried the chargers on another PC? If not sorting it depends on whether the slot is separate or on the motherboard
