Virtualization of life as the next big human addiction Watch

Every year, more and more people are connecting to the WorldWideWeb, ranging through different levels of 'daily addiction'. If you consider Internet users to Facebook users ratio, it is an astonishing 2:1, and generally FB users log into their accounts every single day of the week.

I can't generalize for all of us, but it is obvious that the Internet plays a major role in our lives nowadays. But we are getting to a level of dependancy so high that I can't see a world without Internet, or a daily routine without acessing my emails or checking my FB.

So, is the virtual reality the next step? Considering that one of human goals is to improve the human body and increase its longevity, a total virtualization of life (like Baudrillard believed) seems quite possible.
