I've just received my exam results and although achieving above the minimum required to pass my first year, it says that the university regrets to inform me that I've been unsuccessful in satisfying the examiners. I think this has something to do with my achieving a measly 32% in one of the 4 philosophy modules, but my concern is this: am they disallowing me to continue on with my studies, despite averaging (an admittedly low grade) of 55%, because I technically failed one module! Please help, thank you.

Maybe the module you failed had to be passed in order for you to progress to the next year but I'm only assuming you'll need to check with the university. Call them up and ask.
