I Started working at KFC yesterday, to get a bit of money for university, but really hated it. I knew when I signed up that it wouldn't be great, Its KFC after all ,but people were really quite rude to me. Its not essential for me to have a job, it's just a bit of extra money would be useful for uni.

I don't know whether I should just quit or stick it out for a bit longer and see. I know it's really bad to just leave the in the lurch like that, but tbh I'm making so many mistakes I am more of a hindrance than a help and they probably could get someone better.

I was put on tills and made loads of mistakes and some snide comments from the people I was working with and some customers were really quite rude to me. I don't think that I am too precious and wasn't expecting it to be great ,but for £5 an hour I'm not sure if it's worth it. There seemed to be a lot of 'office politics' and I don't think people would hesitate to snitch on me if I went wrong .I feel a bit stupid , not even being able to manage at kfc , but I don't know if I would be better off just leaving before I get asked to. Should I just quit now , try a few more days or try and stick it out until the end of the summer?Does anyone who works at kfc know if this is normal or if it is likely to get any better?

don't judge it so soon, do a week, you aren't going to know it all immediately. it'll take a few days to settle in and get to know people/them to know you and get things right!

Also don't throw away a sure thing summer job, its very hard to find this kind of thing so its worth to keep unless you absolutely cant stand it after actually working there or you have a sure thing lined up that you can go straight into!

Do you know what - I would stick with it. It is money in your pocket. And you will be grateful for the extra cash when you go to uni.

What else would you be doing over summer. You will improve with time. And it makes you appreciate the people who do these jobs - it is a hard life for them. You are lucky you have uni but imagine being faced with that everyday
