Under Mr Willets, we had:
- £3,000 uni fees trebled to £9,000 and student loan system overhauled (2011)
- Removal of government-imposed cap on universities recruiting AAB and then ABB students (2012)
- Removal of government-imposed cap on universities recruiting AAB and then ABB students (2013)
- COMPLETE removal of government-imposed cap on unis recruiting ALL students
While National Union of Students have insisted Willets will be remembered for "incompetent funding decisions", other representatives of higher education have been much kinder.
Coming to the end of his parliamentary career, Willets has been praised by the director of LSE, the president of Wolfson College in Cambridge and others have been in consensus that he cared about his role and not his career.
How will you remember Willets? What about his replacement Greg Clarke?
