Do what you must. Ask yourself..Do you need this experience ? Will you lose by attending ? What will you gain? Sometimes you have to put the donkeys work in to get to the top

i know someone who did a couple of weeks stint in a legal firm and ended up filing and delivering docs to courts and legal firms....

Hi. It's definitely worth taking it if you can handle the hours (maybe try to do it during the uni break). If you want to work in the legal industry you'll need as much legal experience as you can get, and this sounds like it would make a good building block working towards a paid paralegal job in the next year or two.
The environment doesn't sound great, but I think it's worth giving them the benefit of the doubt. If you decide you don't like working there you can always quit later.
