      If there was a constant stream of happiness, you'd have nothing to compare it to and you'll lose the value of happiness.

      So you need a balance. Sadness doesn't last forever either

        Yes. Whenever I feel happy, the universe sends something along to bring me down and then I have those two competing emotions battling it out in my head leaving me an uncomfortable meh.

        The closest I came to that was on the last day of sixth form. As I looked back on my time in secondary school I was a bit sad, but at the same time happy that I'm leaving - beginning of the rest of my life and all that.
