I graduated in 2012 with a 2:1 BA (Hons) Illustration. I really want to become an art teacher but theres a few factors I'm worried about.

    1) There are on average 5 places per course for PGCE Art & Design compared to 20+ for PGCE Primary so its very very competitive so that chances of getting a place are slim.

    2) If I was to get a place on the course and eventually graduate, there are hardly any (if any) Art Teacher jobs in my area, yet alone region. I can't locate either due to circumstances.

    3) With the new changes to the curriculum in the next couple of years, I don't even know if Arts subjects are going to be safe.

Despite all this, I really want to be an art teacher. I'd be giving up a full time job in retail (even though I hate it...) for a career that isn't certain at the moment.

I'm even considering giving up the art teacher dream to do primary instead just because of better chances of me getting onto a course/go into a job but that would just be a massive compromise for me.

    Any advice?
