Why do you want to study it? If you had to answer that in one sentence, what would you write?

When did you first realise that Geography interested you? Explain the reason you decided to do it at A level etc.

PS. Don't use words like 'passionate' or the awful phrase 'I've always been interested in Geography' (you didn't come out of the womb shouting 'I like Geography'). And make sure you explain any interest by distinguishing between Human and Physical Geography - ie. are you more interested in rock formations or population issues?

What interests you about it? Make a mind map of your favourite areas, and see where you go with that...

I started my off personal statement with 'My desire to follow law as a profession was not something that was apparent at a very young age'. Which in all honesty, is the exact way I felt. Don't make stuff up as many people do, just literally pour out how you feel and what drives you and motivates you for your chosen subject.

Fill it in last. Do the middle first, then the ending, then the beginning. Hopefully you should have a clearer idea of why you like Geography by this point.

The opening sentence doesn't need to say why you want to study Geography in general, you can be more specific. I started my personal statement with 'I'd like to study geography because I am concerned with the gentrification of my local area...' This is obviously not the only reason I want to study the subject and they will know that as later on you will cover more reasons as to why.

I know some advise against opening with the simple 'I'd like to study X because Y' and that you should have something more interesting, however I preferred it this way. I wanted to go straight in rather than waste space with wishy-washy crap. I've applied to university twice now and I had the same approach both times and I've managed to get offers.

I started my ps by saying what first got me interested
