Oh what a suprise, more paedophiles in positions of power. Keep watching this space, this rabbit hole goes far deeper.
Of course it's not a 'safe place'; nothing is secure.

Obviously some people use anonymity networks to protect privacy and bypass censorship, but the majority are people doing dodgy things drawing attention to themselves by trying so hard to cover their tracks.
