Ah a new comer to Athlone Company.
Being ex ULOTC I can tell you its not very hard to get in.
Fitness wise your expected to attend a section weekend and pass a BPFA (not very hard!). On my selection (4 years ago mind) we had to do a group debate (at 5am Saturday morning), uniform fitting, firepower demo, section attack demo, leadership exercise and the social on the Saturday evening. To my knowledge its changed slightly last year with a new commanding officer who is poo hot on the units fitness.
Any other q's drop me a line
PS - If you get in if you join anything other then the infantry platoon in your second year you need your head checking....
Screw the OTC! URNU is the way forward, you get your own ship for christ's sake! When I joined Bristol URNU there were 3 people for every 1 place available, so a bit of competition then!
UOTC looks more exciting and rewarding than the RAF/RN equivalents.
2 quick questions: 1.Have they withdrawn some of the funding, re: the recent TA/Army training budget review? 2.Is there a UOTC unit located near Surrey University, or if not, where is the nearest?
