I never got given my P45 from my old employer and I overpaid tax by £300 and I'm a student.

I rang HMRC and they said it wouldn't be a problem but I'm worried and I need that money back! I applied for my refund about 4 weeks ago

Your employer should automatically gave you a P45 when you stopped working. I am thinks that why didn't you ask him for that? There are 3 parts of a P45, part1, part 1A, part 2 and part 3. Part 1 will send to HMRC and others will give you. Whenever you will get a new job you will give tem part 2 and part 3, and will keep part 1A for your own record.

It is very important for you. You should ask the employer for that again. you're entitled to it by law. If he don't give you, then file a law.
