    Hi guys

I'm 16, 17 in early September. I live with my family at home, but I can't stay for much longer. My brother is an abusive and downright shameless thief.

I've bought myself two new room doors just this year, he's sold well over £100 worth of my stuff just by accessing my room... through the window. Just yesterday he lifted my mum's docking station from her room and sold it. He constantly verbally and physically abuses me. The best part of it all is that my parents tell me to ignore it and let him have what he wants to pacify him.

I can't live this way any more. I want to move out, but I seriously can't afford it. I wanted to post this in money and finance but there's no anon option. I work about 16 hours a week at £4 p/h although that's set to go down to about 6 hours after the summer ends. I have been desperately looking into benefits I could apply for and nothing is coming up. I know it might just seem that i'm an angsty teenager, but I spend all my time at home in my room alone anyway. I do all my own ironing and cook my own food. I suppose as well as wanting to get away from my brother, I finally want my own independence.

I would appreciate any help anyone could offer me, especially about looking in to benefits. I know it's a dead end really, but anything could help... oh, and I'm sorry if it seems like a pointless post. It's great to vent. Thanks.

TL;DR: Brother is an abusive thief, can't take it any more, want to move out but can't afford it and no benefits available (to my knowledge).

You could look into the YMCA? They offer all types of support with housing for young people. I'm not entirely sure, but it'd be worth giving them a ring and seeing if there's one in your area
