    Hello,

I began my course in 2011, with my tuition fees being £3000, not 9.
Since the 9k system has been in order, I believe the maintenance loan granted to students is much higher.

Now- on the SF website- when it presents you with 'up to x amount'
It doesn't say anything regarding students of the 3k system receiving less maintenance loan.
So my question is- as a student living away from home, and outside of London- Can I receive up to £5000? My household income is below 20k.

Please if anyone can help me with this.

    Cheers

You remain on the system you started with, for the entire length of your course. So no, you can't get a higher amount under the more recent scheme.

The trade-off us that you graduate with £6000 per year less in Tuition Fee Loan debt. That might not pay the bills now, but it's a useful situation to be in.

What's the most I'm entitled to? Thanks for the response

No idea, sorry. The online calculator works on the current scheme.

Is there any reason you think you've not been getting the maximum to which you're entitled up until now?

Because I've not taken a maintenance loan out prior to this. Just the grant which I'm not entitled to this year as I've used my gift year.

In your place, I'd phone SF, explain that you're under the previous scheme, and ask them.
