Lay off LSE you miserable cow: this is a Durham thread. As it happens Oxbridge is full of people who got turned down by LSE. LSE gets far more applicants per place and has virtually identical A level entry grades so it turns down plenty of Oxbridge people.
Touchy there aren't you? I'm not critising LSE or Imperial, in fact I'm going to Imperial and I was rejected by oxbridge. My, you must have had a really bad day... or is that er, every day for you?

It works both ways: I know two people from my old school who failed to get into Oxford but were accepted by LSE and went there. I also turned down LSE in favour of Oxford (not that I have anything against LSE as an institution but I just never really seriously thought of going there, I probably shouldn't have applied really). I have also yet to meet anyone at Oxford who was rejected by LSE, though no doubt there must be some here who were. Like I said it works both ways and feel this should be mentioned, since you didn't say it.
I met plenty of people who had been rejected by LSE in my time at Oxford. It was quite amusing, for no particular reason. Some people thought it was because LSE don't do interviews (ie their talents shone more in interview etc)...

Maybe we should just post about Durham here: apologies if I was gratuitously rude...people are just so rude in their posts in general, and when they're not they're implying you're a nerd, which actually has got nothing to do with the arguments you advance... but whenever I give into the temptation to be rude or dismissive in return people highlight it...it really should not be so boringly personal...what matters is what people say, not who they are...
