Is a BTEC extended diploma really equivalent to an A-level? Watch

    • Thread Starter

So recently I've been looking into a lot of unis and seeing what the entry requirements for their courses are.
In uni, I want to study either web design and development or computer science. Currently in college, I'm in A2 and I'm doing two a levels and a btec subsidiary diploma in IT.
I've been told by my teachers that an extended diploma/ subsidiary diploma is equivalent to an a level but that's confused me a little when checking entry requirements for certain unis.
A lot of the unis I've checked have said their entry requirements are along the lines of ABB.
So if I do manage to get two A's in my a levels and pass my btec course, will the btec course count as the third A/B?

(sorry if this was badly worded)

Just done a btec extended diploma cane out with DMM which is roughly BBC at A level. You cant really compare the two as they are different grading, but the offer should say like AB or AA at a level and then a seperate grade for your Btec. Its all different tariffs, You'd have to ring ucas or your Uni choices. Hope I helped though.
