# I have used 2years of funding, how many years do I have left Watch

1. If I dropped out of my first year because of compelling reasons, reapplied for another uni and failed my first year how many years funding do I have. I am confused I have read alot of post and I am very confused do I still get 3 years funding. P.S I plan on taking a new 2 course would student finance fund me for the full course or do I have to fund the first year?
2. New course length - years taken + 1. So 2 - 2 + 1 or. 3 - 2 + 1 So it would always work out (unless its in the list of some courses NHS pays for) that you will have to self fund the first year.

When you say you dropped out of your first year for "compelling reasons", have you actually applied for Student Finance's Compelling Personal Reasons and been granted that year if funding back? That will make a difference.

The calculation is:
Number of years of your new degree course (minus) Number of years of previous uni-level study (plus) Any year of funding reinstated through the SF CPR process (plus) One year = Number of years of SF entitlement remaining

Without the formal CPR, this gives you 3-2+0+1=2, meaning that you would have to fund the first year of a new degree yourself apart from a small Maintenance Loan.

With the formal CPR giving you back the funding used by your first attempt, you get 3-2+1+1=3, meaning that your new degree course would have SF funding for all 3 years.
