    Hi

Is it true that the agency pays your wages not your employer?

Also who owns you? The agency or employer?

If you are hired by an agency on a temporary contract, then the company you are working for will pay the agency, and they will pay you...

And no one owns you, but who you are hired by will depend on your contract.

I don't know. Agencies may refuse to pay you due to commission problems or simply greed.

Is there a disadvantage applying through agencies?
No. You work, you get paid. You have the same right to be paid as you would do if you were hired directly through the company.

I guess it depends on the agency and on the job you want. I've found agencies to be useful for admin type stuff.
I think some people dislike agencies if you're looking for permanent positions, but they can be fantastic if you want temping jobs.

    Thanks for your response.

So on your CV do you put the agency as your place of work or do you put your actual company?

Also, since this is for a one year placement, will I be released to the company or will I still be owned by the agency?

Not entirely sure. Personally I've put "employer" (via "agency")

And that will depend on your contract.
