I know I didn't love him when I first started missing him but now I'm wondering if it is just that I truly miss him or if I have fallen in love with him? We aren't in a long distance relationship or anything but there is something between us. Don't know if its relevant but we have known each other for about a year now but I only met him a couple of weeks before I had to come home (I was living abroad at the time and we met through mutual friends), I'm 20 and never been in love before.

So how would people define missing someone compered with loving someone?

Hey, I think it's a complicated thing to describe. I don't know if it's really something you have to base on experience. I wouldn't get too lost in trying to define what it is. But if you want to get physically closer to him and be in his physical presence a lot then that's a sign of something deeper? When I miss friends, for instance, it's because I haven't seen them for a long time. I enjoy spending time with them but I don't yearn for them when I don't see them. That's what I see as the difference. If I'm not in love with a guy, it goes than deeper than me thinking "Hey I haven't seen this guy a while. I wonder what he's been up to". Hope that helps in some weird way!

Well, lets consider love first. Love does not exist, there is no such thing. It's a silly fictional concept.

Lets move on to the second thing, missing someone. It means you liked their company to an extent that you find it hard to be separated for long periods of time. You're constantly thinking about that person and wishing you could see them again, to be around them and to talk to them.
