Ive asked this in another thread but didnt get much response, so any help would be appreciated :

I start ALevels in September and Ive chosen Chemistry, Biology, PE and Maths. These are the 4 AS' im taking but im planning to drop maths after a year, leaving me with full ALevels in Chemistry, Biology and PE.

My problem is Im really considering going down the path of medicine at university, and i know i would need at least AAA to get onto a course, but is an A in PE ALevel good enough to be on a medicine course, Cambridge (not that I want to go there) views it as a soft ALevel so it doesnt make my chances very competitive, is it like this at all russel group universities? Would having just an AS in maths help my case or is it still not enough?

If worst comes to worst I may be able to switch maths to a full A2 and drop PE but im not sure if thats an option yet, or if i want to carry on with maths.

However i am unable to carry on with all 4 after AS so i have to drop one.

Any help would be nice, thanks in advance:yes:

If you are worried about having PE as too soft a subject, then take Maths through to A2. If you are doing maths at AS, you can't be half bad at it and so you should be capable of taking it through to A2.

I just hope by the time you apply to medicine at university, it isn't minimum 3 A*s... (At the rate it's going though...)

'Biology/Human Biology with PE will not be accepted in combination at A level, although one may be accepted in lieu of the fourth AS-level if the other is achieved at A level.

This is going to be true for everywhere else as well.

You should stick with Maths to get a full A-Level in it, as it seems more appropriate. Then you have all core subjects.
