The reason we pee more when drinking alcohol is due to it being a diuretic, this video explains simply and shortly the whole explanation. http://youtu.be/HBuKZ_OJ6rk

What type of alcohol affects you the most in terms of having to go to the toilet?

I think it comes down to fluid more than alcohol.

If I drink 6 units of beer, I'm going to have drunk about 1.7 litres of fluid.
If I drink 6 units of wine, I'm going to have drunk about 260ml of fluid.
If I drink 6 units of whisky, I'm only going to have drunk 50ml of fluid.

So regardless of alcohol being a diuretic you'd expect the weakest drinks to make you need the toilet more just because you're naturally going to drink way more fluid.

    For me anyway!

As said above... it's usually volume.

However alcohol is also a diuretic, so you would presume having the odd shot here and there would make you pee more especially when mixing it with load of beer or cider.

If you have 10 pints on a night out, that's roughly 5.6 litres.... imagining not needing to pee after drinking that much water?
