Should I try to get a place at a Russell group university (possibly Queen Mary) because I have exceeded the conditions for my offer at Surrey. Just because it is in the Russell Group, would it be better to go to there?

It is worth changing and does anyone know of the benefits of going to a Russell group university? Also are rankings more important than going to a Russell group?

    Thanks in advance.

Picking a university over another one just because it is in the Russell Group is not very sensible at all. Don't assume that Russell Group universities are always the best. There are many good universities that are not in the Russell Group. Being part of the Russell Group is based on criteria that doesn't really say anything about quality of their undergraduate courses. Surrey is a good university, and presumably you spent some time deciding where to apply and have chosen it for very good reasons. It therefore seems silly to just drop it at the last minute and instead go somewhere else.

Again be careful with choosing where to go based on rankings. Different league tables give different rankings and use different criteria and different weightings. These may not reflect the criteria that matter to you and that you would use when deciding where to go. Rankings also change every year, so I really wouldn't get so hung up on them.
