Long story short, i've got to go on a visit with a work placement to somewhere which is quite hard to book. My boss emailed me before saying that the first date they have is the 14th of august which is of course results day. I can be in school at 7:30 to find out my results and whether i've got into uni or not but theres a possibility I won't get the grades so I don't want to just say that i'm alright to go on that date. If i have to go into clearing or negotiate with unis about getting in, how long is this likely to take? just so i've got an idea of whether i can go or not, considering its an hour and a half away.

I have emailed the 6th form administrator who deals with all the ucas stuff about it although I've not received anything back so i'm not sure whether or not people are still in school.

    Cheers

If everything goes as planned and you get into uni then it should be fine... however clearing would be a different matter- you would have to look through listings of available course, phone universities and probably do a mini interview, upload details onto track etc, it could take at least a couple of hours i would have thought. Also consider whether you would be in the right frame of mind to go on an important training course if things don't go as planned. I would say if possible leave it to a later date.
    good luck on results day!

Might have to see if i can wangle another date out of them. I'm only going to look at a borehole and core samples so in all honesty its not imperative as an experience, its just one of those things that may be useful to say youve done etc, so i wouldn't say mindset is really a factor in it overall

I'm relatively confident about getting two As but the B i need could be an A or a D, I've got no idea, so i don't want to just expect it to be fine then go ahead and book it because it may come back to bite me on the arse.

    Thanks for the info though
