Worried my friend at work will dislike me Watch

I have finally found a part time job, and I've been here the past couple months. It's like a zero hours deal, so you just put your name down next to the shifts you want. When I applied, it was only supposed to be temporary, but now the manager has said I could stay which is great for me. Thing is, I have a feeling one of my friends who I met when I started the job won't be happy that I'm staying because it means she'll get less shifts to pay rent and stuff. She's been asking me how long I'm here for and subtly hinting that, with me there, there are too many people and not enough shifts for her. I also found a note left for the manager from her saying that she thought I was only temporary and that she doesn't want to lose shifts.
I really like her as a friend, but I'm worried when she finds out that I'm staying, and therefore there will be less shifts to go around, she will feel like I'm out-staying my welcome, so to speak, although I will probably only be working one or two shifts a week.
Is there anything I should do or say to try and be diplomatic about it? I understand why she would be upset about it, I would be too since I was only supposed to be there temporarily, but obviously I also want to stay, but I don't want any animosity between us either.

Carry on as you are and take as many shifts as you can.

At the end of the day it's your decision to take as many shifts as you want. Don't bother about other people, they will always find something they don't like about you!
