After graduating, would you take an unpaid internship job to gain experience? Even if there was no job guarantee at the end?

No. Possibly a week long trial, but absolutely nothing more.

'Experience' is an abstract word and is categorically inadequate compensation on its own in return for labour.

No, If you're doing meaningful work for the company (Ie: not just photocopying) then the company will receive added value and should compensate you as such.

My boyfriend is doing an unpaid internship for an up and coming tv and film production company. He absolutely ADORES it and he is offered so much responsibility and work it's crazy. It's an amazing chance for him to really add value and leave his mark on a company. They love him too and will keep him on for as long as he wants.
I however, am doing a paid internship which makes me want to cry every morning before I go into the office. It's really that bad.

    It totally depends.

I bet they do love him. He likes working for free. Why would the employer ever want to terminate that arrangement?!

They can't afford to pay him. The company doesn't turn over any money. He is paid the occasional
