    Hi Guys

In about a weeks time i will be having an assesment day for the ICS/ VSO scheme.

From what i've heard there will be group activities and not much other info has been given.

I'm asking to see if anyone has any experience with group interviews/ assesment days?

Would be great to get some advice which will help me get through the day

I did a group interview at Asda if that helps? They split up applicants in to 6 smaller groups of 4 people. Firstly, we were asked to pick a partner and say your name and a bit about yourself, then your partner has to recite what you said (and you do the same..), secondly, we were asked to build an object out of balloons as a group, a bit of a fun exercise - the winning team got nothing but a round of applause. Finally, we were asked to walk around the shop floor, clean up some shelves and we were reviewed by how much work we did. Finally, we filled a few forms in and then went home.

You need to be really enthusiastic and be shown as a participating candidate in these, so even if it's something you struggle at, do your best to be helpful to other group members if you have slightly similar tasks.

    Good luck

When doing the group exercise is it best to stick up for yourself/ point or make sure you listen and go with someone else's?

If someone has 'appointed' themself as a leader, it's best to follow what they say because if you stand out as not working in a team that won't really work well for you, unless you have a better suggestion.

The best thing you can do is get in there early and suggest good ways of working together as a team.

Some companies will look for a team player and some will look for a team leader, it's best to show both of those qualities if you can.
